The .timeout command is correct when using IRC/WebSockets and works fine in chat as it is IRC based. There may be a bug with Twitch right now. If you look at your private messages, like I have, jtv (Twitch) is saying a user is timed out:

[10-02-2017 @ 13:09:10.101 MDT] jtv: illusionaryone has been timed out for 5 seconds.
[10-02-2017 @ 13:09:10.103 MDT] jtv: illusionaryone has been timed out for 5 seconds.

[10-02-2017 @ 13:11:15.768 MDT] jtv: illusionaryone has been timed out for 10 seconds.
[10-02-2017 @ 13:11:15.769 MDT] jtv: illusionaryone has been timed out for 10 seconds.

But I do not see it happening in chat.

Further here:

Twitch Chat (as you can see I even use .timeout from the Twitch interface…it is old school IRC)
NotIllusionaryOne: .timeout illusionaryone 5
IllusionaryOne has been timed out for 5 seconds.
Broadcaster NotIllusionaryOne: asdf
Broadcaster NotIllusionaryOne: .timeout illusionaryone 100
IllusionaryOne has been timed out for 100 seconds.
Broadcaster NotIllusionaryOne: .unban illusionaryone
IllusionaryOne is no longer timed out in this room.

However, I do notice, and I think I am in the Twitch Beta, when I type something, it doesn’t show up in chat but doesn’t tell me at all that I was timed out:

NotIllusionaryOne: asdf
1:15 IllusionaryOne: hello
1:16 IllusionaryOne: asdf

Then from the bot:

chat .timeout illusionaryone 1000
[10-02-2017 @ 13:18:02.618 MDT] [CHAT] .timeout illusionaryone 1000

As you can see, I am timed out. My text never shows up. But I am not provided a message either. But the timeout works fine.

Thank you for that in depth explanation. After some further testing we have /me toggled on for the bot and that seems be the issue. It works when we toggle it off. This might not be the place to ask but is there a way to turn that off for timeouts so that the timeouts work?

#5

Sorry to bug you on this. Any idea if the ability to have /me toggled on for the bot will allow the bot to time a user out? Or is there a way to have that /me toggled off for just timeouts?

#6

Sorry, I had a death in the family and was not really paying attention to the forums very much.

I will try to reproduce and test.
